CHS is the sole distributor of high class tableware to the Channel Islands. Distributing brands such as Robert Welch and Villeroy & Boch, they wanted a website that would showcase the elegant products in a clean and user friendly fashion.
In addition to the website Margaret, the Director of CHS wanted to change the perception of the company by developing a new brand identity.
A fresh look at tableware
The original CHS logo didn’t represent the company, although logos can be abstract we felt for this project we wanted to create a logo that people could identify the the nature of the business from.
Building a sitemap
A crucial stage in our development process is working out the sitemap. How will the user get from page to page? Does the journey make sense? These are the questions we ask ourselves whilst roughing out the sitemap.
UX & UI Design
We chose to keep the design simple across the board. Utilising the fantastic photography produced by the brands, we let the products take centre stage. It was also important to get across the personal service as well as the high class brands.
Here’s the first concept that we presented:
Illustrating the mobile experience
With over 60% of web traffic now coming from mobile devices, the refined mobile experience was crucial. All our website’s are built mobile first, that means we start with the lowest common denominator (mobile) and work our way up to desktops.
This leads to a much more fluid experience on every device.
Refining the design
Many refinements were made to create a truly seamless experience with a beautiful clean design. There are many distributors within the UK and we needed to give companies a reason to choose CHS over their competitors.
We needed to educate CHS’s past and potential customers that their brand had changed. We sent out clean and simple mailers directing people to the new site. We also set up an ongoing newsletter to keep customers in the loop with what’s going on
“I’m so thrilled with the new website; I love the logo – very clever – and the simple but sophisticated feel the whole site has. It’s easy to navigate and informative and been well received by suppliers and customers alike. Professional advice and attention to detail were second to none. Thank you!!”
